The 1998 Mountain Man triathlon, held Nov. 21st in the shadow of Chinaman's Hat
at the Kualoa Ranch, is a quarter-mile ocean swim/20k mountain bike ride/5k off-
road run. The competition was fierce, although they certainly weren't worried
about me.... My pal Jim Stevens (father of Shelby's boyfriend Jake) was my
motivator -- even though he finished about 20 minutes ahead of me.
Last one out of the water... (gimme a break --
it's my first triathlon!)
Transitioning from swim to ride 
Coming in for a finish at 2:02:43 -- over 80 minutes
on the mountain bike, but placing 178 out of 227.
